About Midwest Microwave Solutions
Midwest Microwave Solutions designs and manufactures innovative, high performance receiver and RF digitizer products for SIGINT, COMINT, SDR, and ELINT applications.
MMS is a privately held company incorporated in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in May 2005 by president Phil Rezin. MMS was established as an RF consulting and prototyping company. Between 2005 and 2009, Mr. Rezin and cofounder Steve Wilson designed and developed a product line of RF tuners and digitizers while serving as Vice President and Senior Staff Member at Softronics Ltd in Marion, Ia. In June of 2009, DSP expert Mike Horn joined MMS as a partner and the company acquired the Softronics Ltd miniature RF tuner and digitizer product line.
In July of 2009, MMS moved its operations to its new design facility in Hiawatha, Iowa. Hiawatha is located just outside of Cedar Rapids, which serves as the headquarters for Rockwell Collins and many other high technology companies. This technology base attracts and maintains a local concentration of engineering talent and manufacturing support infrastructure. The MMS business model leverages these resources by subcontracting specialized technical expertise as needed and outsourcing manufacturing functions, such as board and chassis fabrication and SMT assembly, that are more economically performed by dedicated service providers.
The MMS partnership team has been working together for over 10 years at Rockwell Collins, Softronics Ltd, and now MMS. The core team has a long history of success in developing state of the art receivers, tuners, and DSP engines.
MMS’s RF products feature miniature, high dynamic range front ends tunable from 30-6000MHz that include embedded preselect filters and low noise, fast tuning synthesizers. The RF digitizer products feature open-architecture, customer flashable DSP’s & FPGA’s, time tagging, and up to 25MHz digitized spectrum.
Midwest Microwave Solutions also provides very quick turn (QRC) design capability to support customers as requirements and threats continually change.
